Cirque Du Mu

Mumu has had a longstanding love affair with Cirque Du Soleil. Their latest show, Amaluna, only confirmed the romance! We were ecstatic to see upon arrival to the the big blue and yellow tent that the visual theme of the show was…wait for it…peacock feathers! Ugh. We knew mumu and the circus were lovers, but now we really know. The show was INCREDIBLE.

What to wear to the circus? Anything that makes you feel like Marlena from Water for Elephants of course. Thinking Beaux Beaux Kimoneaux or Chachi Maxi.

4^th of Muly is our most favorite holiday. Well…we actually just love a good holiday in general, but the 4^th gets special mumu love and affection because everyone is so mu-friendly in jean shorts and bikinis. Mumu is also born, raised, and made in America and we love celebrating our beautiful country! As the Mighty Ducks would say, “USA! USA! USA!”.

Camu spent some extra special time at the family lake house compound/commune in Toledo Bend, LA. The highlights?

1) Cammy’s dad in a Hana Trumu. Which he would NOT return at the end of the weekend. He needed it for his wardrobe. See below pic for reference which sort of reads Hebert meets Mumu meets Wild Whites of West Virginia.

2) Mumodeling with lakehouse guests on a pirate ship. Yes, a pirate ship.

3) The fireworks show from heaven. And more importantly the ‘fireworks announcement team’ heading out on the Master Craft to make sure the entire lake was aware of the schedule.

4) Spending time with old friends decked out in mus playing Bocce Ball for hours on end under the glorious flags of which we are faithful servants: Bob Marley & St. Louis Rams (thanks to T-Bob).

5) Our “Call Me Maybe” video big screen debut!

Mu went to Mexico…and stayed! Due to a series of (un)fortunate events, mumu was stranded with no passport and consequently forced to spend an additional 5 days in Mexico. 5 days turned out to be the “best yet” of mumus life…. Yoga Poses + Aztec Wendy Topslip + Ariel’s rock in the middle of the ocean = Dreamlife but it was real….

Wonder Woman is a mumuse for a whole bunch of reasons….A few listed below:

1) She is all about her “Amazon ideals of love, peace, and sexual equality ” which is a real fancy way of saying “Girl Power” which is what our other fave muses (The Spice Girls) taught us too.

2) Her top skill is using her Amazon bracelets to stop bullets and all sorts of crazy things flying her way. Just like Cologne does with all of hers!

3) She uses her tiara not just as a headband BUT as a boomerang which we really admire. Getting so creative with those shiny accessories. Hilary has since copied this move with her fedora….if you are at an NYC bar and you see her with that fedora on- watch out!

4) She also ” gained access to the violet power ring of love. This ring allowed her to alter her costume at will” which basically means she has a portable version of Cher’s closet from Clueless. Wow.

5) Lastly, anyone in a leotard especially one of stars and stripes has our approval. I mean this outfit is an American spandex dream. Never say no to a leotard!

Mumu: The Muvie

We have been sooo busy here at mumu headquarters casting for the Lifetime muvie they are doing on us. The producers have finally made some hard decisions after hours upon hours of castings, conversations, and negotiations. This is the nature of the biz people. We thought we would share the cast with our loyal mumu fans in this upcoming fake movie….

Alessandra Ambrosio was the obvious choice for ‘Mini’ aka ‘Shannon 1′ BUT Sinead O’Connor was also interested in the role and thought she had a chance because they are obviously related. Problem was- neither of them act. So a heartbroken Minka Kelly got in touch with producers and Voila! We have our very own movie mini!

Casting Jordan was fairly easy. Mischa came in for the role and something just….wasn’t…sitting right. Luckily, she gave us a burst of creative energy and we realized who was perfect for the role: Marissa Cooper! Duh!

The role of Cologne. Kate Bosworth (circa Blue Crush) had been verbally promised the role by one of the producers because they are twins. Unfortunately, we were also in negotiations with a few big names. After hours of debate and finally an overrule by Teamu (the producers were having a hard time with our choice)…we present to you…Suri Cruise as Cologne Schmidt. Put those kitten heels away Suri! It’s time for wedges!

Cammy was thinking Jessica Biel, but then the producers said she came as package with Lucy Camden AKA Beverly Mitchell and we just didn’t have a role for her in this particular film….It was down to the wire when JLO’s people called our people. She heard about Cammy’s love for gold hoops and said we could borrow the twins when Teamu wanted to play with babies so we gave her the green light.

Bobby had his heart set on Philip Seymour Hoffman but aside from the sausage fingers we just didn’t know if they had enough in common. Luckily, his celeb doppelganger Simon Cowell heard about the flick from JLO and contacted us immediately for a role. After a screen test and the boys sharing some whiskeys, Simon was in as Bobby Miller. The accent didn’t hurt his chances either. Australian….English….Americans just hear an accent.

We had a lot of interest in the role of Sam, but only interviewed one human: Beaux Hebert aka Sam’s American twin brother. He was a shoe in: family ties, identical look, same personality. Beaux hopes to make Sam proud and looks forward to working alongside the talented Suri Cruise to make the romance of Sam and Coco come to life.

Coco Harvests the Vineyard in a JoJo of Course

Basically Mumu + Aussies= Love. Last night, mumu went to the LA launch party for the Australian clothing line Bec & Bridge. Hung out with more aussies and then went to the Aussie restaurant Eveleigh. Then went to sleep dreaming of kangaroos, rugby, and vegemite. The party was fabulous and we made a purchase- see newest closet addition below- the perfect blazahhhhh! Mu took a trip to the Pasadena Rose Bowl on Sunday, and fell in love with all the amazing treasures and trinkets around her. Mumu LOVES the flea market. She feels at home. She feels inspired. Most of all she feels like she got a downright bargain.

1) Find your awesome (hopefully lofted) accommodations on Airbnb.

2) Walk in a gypsy skirt in the rain. Walk all day and all night. Walk walk walk. Its the most walk-y & beautiful city ever. Walk everywhere. And bike when you are not in your gypsy skirt.

3) Visit one musuem/morning. Van Gogh, Anne Frank, Rembrandt & friends….

4) Stop in one outdoor cafe/afternoon (post-Amsterdamian afternoon rainstorm). And YES we mean a good ole regular cafe. With coffee.

5) Take a boozy cruisey through the canals with good friends and wine (red or white depends on weather and mood).

And watch out for LOTS of printed pants.

Wowwwwwww. Today was ahhhmazing. We did a trunkshow at USC at our FAVORITE sorority (Ok its a tie for favorite cuzzz Coco’s a DG) PI PHI! All the girls were lovin the mumus and mumu was lovin all the girls. Everyone stocked up for Coachella, Havasu, Summahtime, etc. Apologies for the blah blah quality photos. Things were absolute happy chaos in all of the shopping madness and we only had a few free moments to snap these pics on our IPHONE.

“As I returned from an amazing weeklong vacay with my boyfriend in Miami, I found out that a picture of my suitcase was featured on Mu’s blog prior to my departure—very exciting! I was thrilled to be able to take the Peacock Mu back to it’s birthplace in Miami for Ultra Music Festival, and sported it all over the beach, festival and the streets of South Beach. Everyone LOVED the Mu, including the DJ duo DigitaLife!”

Intern Kiersten: If you could pick just one moment/memory from our vacation to Miami, what would it be?

DigitaLife: The most amazing moment for me was during Erick Morillo’s set at the festival on Sunday when the 150,000 person crowd was surprised by a guest performance by the legendary P. Diddy! I had goosebumps all over and couldn’t believe I was experiencing such an epic moment first-hand.

Intern Kiersten: We had so much fun taking the Mu back to it’s birthplace, Miami. Where would you like to take the Mu next?

DigitaLife: Florianopolis, Brazil because the style is very similar to South Beach except there is a more stylistic flare—from boardwalks to beach clubs, women uphold a high-class free-flowing attire that sets them apart from anywhere else in the world.

Favorite colors, favorite American girl, favorite bikini, favorite B Spears style phase, favorite Spice Girl, favorite number, and on and on. See? Favorites are fun! FRIDAY IS OUR FAVORITE! And since it’s Favorite Friday…here are some more things on which mu showers love, affection, & favoritism:

1) WINK- one of mumus fave stores with three locations in NYC and an online store! Yesterday they wrote an ahhhmazing write up on our lurvely little mus and we were thrilled!

2) DUMPSTARS LA. Mumu is all about spring cleanin’ to make room for new mus! ‘Out with the old and in with the MU’ (quote stolen from Farris Foyil). Rent one of these DUMPSTARS for anything: parties, cleaning, moving, and on and on….and when you call, ask for Bobby the Aussie Hunk.

3) Muts. Mumu loooooooves muts. One in particular that happens to be the unofficial mascot of mu: Mick. Mick was adopted from Much Love on Abbot Kinney one fateful Saturday afternoon. We can’t be sure since he is an orphan, but we suspect he is part jack russel, part coyote, part fox, part wise old sage, part chihuahua. Mick is a favorite.

Mumu has collaborated with CARE FOR KENYA to create an amazing line of limited edition totes and mumus! All proceeds of the collection will go back to this wonderful cause. MUMU: Alexa, tell us more about Care for Kenya!

Alexa: Care For Kenya is a New York-Kenyan based NGO that uses micro financing initiatives to help provide job opportunities to vulnerable women entrepreneurs in the slums of Kenya who otherwise cannot find work due to scarce job opportunities or grave illnesses such as the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The C4K team joins forces with upcoming designers to hire and provide income to Kenyan women so to not only produce fashion forward collections, but to also improve living standards for poverty-stricken communities of Kenya. We use the fashion community as a platform to spread awareness that you can look great, and at the same time, strengthen the socio-economic conditions of Kenya!

Alexa: Though Kenya is one of the most developed economies in Africa, 50 percent of the country lives below the poverty line (making less than 1.25 USD a day).

Big day in mumuland. Cammy officially turned a quarter of a century. Mick sported his first bow tie. Coco made a fab witchesbrewgreensangria combination. There was a party. There was a fire (for real). There was a pinata. And somehow everyone made it to work on March 18.

Cammy and Mick were featured on PUPARAZZA cause they were just so famously festive… Mick even had on vintage mumu! Neon G Cheetah!

this is a big deal…my first blogging experience EVER. it’s fun woo. soooo i picked up a lovely batch of mumu’s today for spring break in CABO, bright colors and sheer (obviously)! can’t wait for my friends and i to rock them. they’re easy breezy and sexaaaay. it’s weird how every pattern seems to make me look tan already. i’m currently at my friend shan dog’s house in westlake gathering my energy for my departure on sunday. my next post will include our stunning beach photos in mumu’s get excited!!

Mumus love to travel….In fact, they get sad when they don’t. They would prefer if you kept them safely zipped in the inside pocket of your purse and carried them with you at all times and exposed them to every inch of the earth that you ever visit….but they will settle on hanging in a closet and being taken on field trips too! We want to see HOW you wear your mumu, WHERE you bring your mumu, WHAT you do in your mumu. We prefer to be included in photos: handstands, cartwheels, landmarks, secret caves, jean shorts, historical places of interest, color saturation, live animals, lots of siblings, Australians, too many bracelets, anything involving hanging upside down, Lance Bass, wild rain dances, oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, pools, face paint, haunted alleyways….but if you just wanna do the hand-on-the-hip pose we will take it too just cause your so freakin cool in your mumu!
